Interior Design Graduate Profiled in Forbes For Her Design Work at Palm Springs Boutique Resort

Santa Monica, California-based interior designer Vanessa Schreiber, an Interior Design Graduate who participated in Chairing Styles at FIDM, was recently profiled in Forbes for her work on Dive, an 11-room petite boutique resort in Palm Springs that’s inspired by the French Riviera of the 1960s.

The Instagram-worthy adults only getaway, co-owned by tech entrepreneur Dale Fox and hospitality veteran Abdi Manavi, is Vanessa’s first boutique hotel project. “With only 11 rooms, Dive is really like a villa,” she told Forbes. “You can lose that intimacy with larger hotels, and it was great to bring that connection back.”

Her self-titled residential and commercial design firm is known for its attention to detail, bold color, knowledge of materials and texture, and use of scale. Each of the rooms at Dive has its own color schemes and design touches that fit within the concept of vintage French Riviera. Guests will encounter rattan furnishings, custom Belgian linen sheets, vintage refrigerators, and line art from fashion illustrator Gabriella Fash on the walls.

The hotel’s courtyard is a highlight, offering sun beds and cabanas near the blue-tiled pool, a bocce court, and fire pit for post-dinner hangouts. “The three of us collaborated on every aspect of this design, and it was so rewarding to work with amazing people who cared so much about making this special,” added Vanessa, who worked in real estate for seven years prior to becoming a designer.

Dive’s showpiece is the Le Rêve, which features custom wallpaper and a ceiling mural by Christian Lacroix. In the Paris Suite, guests will find a 1919 copper and brass bed and a wall mirror created from an original window from the iconic Flatiron building in New York. The Orchard Suite offers a private hot tub, indoor movie theater, and a three-hole putting green. “I am not afraid of bold accents in my projects,” she said recently. “It brings dimension and depth to every space.”
